At age 88, the Grandfather of Poker displayed he\u2019s still got what it takes to play High Stakes Poker with the best of them. In the third episode of High Stakes Poker, Doyle Brunson took the rest of the cast to school, winning several major hands and taking home a nice jackpot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t caught an episode of HSP yet, then now\u2019s the time to hop on board, as online poker<\/a> has never been more exciting. For beginners, especially, this is the perfect chance to learn great tips from the pros that can hopefully help in your own games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, Brunson won six hands and chopped one, and it appeared as if the legendary poker player could do no wrong during his time on episode three. Brunson slowly but surely stacked up his chips and made crucial moves at just the right moments. Experience, it seems, is very advantageous in the poker world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brunson won five small but important hands, but evidently wanted to take things up a notch, thereby putting the straddle up to $800. Jean-Robert Bellande, another poker champion, turned up the heat even more and made the straddle $1,600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dwan, with his 6 of Spades and 3 of Spades, made it $5,000, which had the knock-on effect of Daniel Negreanu calling the 5K using the Queen of Diamonds and 9 of Diamonds. Brunson, sensing victory could be close, continued with $30,800 using the 7 of Spades and 7 of Hearts. Not wanting any part of things, Bellande, Dwan, and Negreanu all folded and the wily, old Brunson laughed as he took in his winnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Dwan, who didn\u2019t have the best of luck during the first two HSP episodes, was clearly looking for a big start right out of the gates. Well, he got it, as Dwan won back some of his chips, including the first three hands and a $60,800 pot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dwan\u2019s success didn\u2019t last long, however, as he and Negreanu battled over a six-figure pot. Dwan, holding the Ace of Clubs and Jack of Spades, kicked things off with $400, but the Finn, Patrik Antonius, raised things considerably to $2,000 using the 10 of Spades and 8 of Spades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dwan could be seen toying with some of the chips in his $120,000 stack, and eventually the flop came with Jack of Diamonds, 10 of Clubs, and 4 of Hearts, giving Dwan just a top pair. With the pot up to $88,000, viewers were shocked when Dwan went all in, and appearing nonchalantly, Negreanu too did the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pair decided to run it twice, with the first board completed as a Queen of Hearts and 4 of Clubs river. The second board turned out to be a Queen of Spades and 7 of Spades river, which meant Negreanu (not usually a huge winner on High Stakes Poker), practically danced away from the table with a giant pot worth  $272,600. The players joked that Negreanu was a bad winner, as he sat on a total stack of chips totalling close to $350,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it\u2019s clear that Dwan\u2019s luck is bound to turn for at least the next episode, it\u2019s still a bitter pill to swallow for a player so renowned for his stellar skills with the cards and chips. It\u2019s also incredibly refreshing to see Doyle Brunson still be so competitive and of course, winning some major amounts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
